Samsung has revealed they have planed to release a tablet to compete against the iPad. “We will respond”: those were the words of J.K. Shin, president of mobile-communications at Samsung as he spoke at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona this past weekend.

“The iPad will create a new market and new demand”
Shin went on it say that it was normal the Samsung compete in this market. Apple’s tablet computer “will create a new market and new demand,” adding that it’s “too early” to give more details on Samsung’s plans. “At the same time, they are our customer” said Shin referring to the fact that Samsung, the world’s second largest mobile-phone maker, supplies Apple with the processor that powers the iPad.
An estimated 6 millions iPads are to be sold this year according to Goldman Sash Group Inc. By contract, the mobile phone market will reach 1 billion units in 2010.
