Here’s an interesting new iPad accessory. The ClamCase is an “all-in-one keyboard, case and stand for the iPad”, but don’t let that fancy marketing fool you, it essentially turns your iPad into a pretend laptop.
Here are some of the features advertised on it’s website.
1. Bluetooth keyboard
A chiclet style keyboard that connects to your iPad via Bluetooth leaving your dock connector free for charging. The keyboard is also compatible with other HID compatible Bluetooth devices like the Playstation 3, Tivo and some home theater PCs.
2. 360 degree flip case
Torque hinges on the plastic ClamCase will allow the iPad to be flipped and fixed into several different angles. This will allow better manipulation of the iPad for certain applications and protects the tablet when its being carried around.
3. Stand
Much as you would do with a half open book, the case will allow you to stand it up vertically or horizontally to watch movies, use it as a digital picture frame or use certain apps designed for those angles.
You’ll see in the video that that ClamCase does look pretty cool, although I’m not sure that not just because of the ACDC track. However, there’s something deep in my gut that tells me its wrong to want to turn an iPad into a laptop-looking device, or worse, into a Tablet PC. But who knows, this could prove to be very useful in certain situations.
