Dell Streak 7 tablet for pre-order at Amazon for $380

Dell Streak 7

Dell’s Streak 7 tablet has went up for pre-order on Amazon. You can pre-order the device for $379.99 however no word yet on when it will actually ship.

Running Android, the Dell Streak 7 come with an NVIDEA Tegra 2 dual-core processor. But don’t pull out your credit card just yet. The Streak 7 isn’t exactly a top player among the flood of Android tablets coming out in 2011. Although it’s 7-inch screen makes it a very portable device, the resolution does suffer considerably at only 800 x 480. Needless to say, most Android phones have that same resolution in smaller form factors.

The other major downfall the Dell Streak 7 presents next to other Android tablets such as the Motorola Xoom or the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is that it ships with Android 2.2. Android 3.0 Honeycomb, which is optimized for tablets will come standard on most tablets in 2011 and it is unclear why Dell chose to stick to an outdated and unoptimized version of the Android OS in the Streak 7.

There is good news however. At $379.99 for a wifi-only version, the Dell Streak 7 iswith similar features. A 3g version of the Streak will run you about $450, although you can pick one up for as little as $199 with a 2-year mobile broadband service contract.
