Archos, on of the earlier manufacturers to get into the tablet market is finally taking pre-orders for the Archos 7 Home Tablet in the U.S. The device has been available for pre-order in Europe since last month, first appearing in Germany at €179.99 ($243) for the 8GB model.
The Archos 7 was officially announced in early March at the CeBIT trade show in Germany (along side the WePad) and has gotten quite a lot of buzz since then.
As it is often the case, US prices will be slightly lower than in Europe; you can expect to pay $199 for the 8GB model, currently available on Amazon. For now the actual shipping date remains to be announced, although some sources are saying it will be before the end of April.
