Now that every body under the sun has or is working on releasing a tablet, Panasonic is launching one of their own. But unlike the sexy sleek iPad, this bad boy is rugged and tough.
Targeted at field maintenance workers and law enforcement, the Toughbook H1 Field is rugged enough to survive a 6ft drop and live through extreme temperatures. But don’t let that fool you into thinking they sold out on the specs. It comes standard with a 1.86GHz Intel Atom Z540 processor, has a 10.4-inch XGA screen that is viewable in sunlight, 2GB of RAM and a 64GB SSD. While Windows 7 is its standard operating system, XP Tablet Edition is available as a downgrade option.

This is the Jeep of tablets. It has WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth and optional 3g, an optional GPS unit and 2D barcode scanner, fingerprint security, a 2-megapixel camera with LED flash, RFID reader and SmartCard reader. The battery can hold a charge for 6 hours and can be hot-swapped with a second power pack.
The H1 is covered in a magnesium allow chassis and can resist to rain, spills, vibration and dust.Expected in March, the Toughbook H1 Field should sell for $3,379.
