Doritos, the potato chip maker, has released a video announcing the forthcoming, fictitious, Doritos Tablet, essentially a giant Dorito. The company have cleverly copied the standard Apple interview style, whilst making over-exaggerated claims as to the potential of the Dorito Tablet. A brilliant spoof of the recent iPad announcement.
The YouTube video is currently rated at an impressive 5 stars and has had an incredible 22,000 views since going live last week, and despite its jovial approach succeeds in highlighting the often over-promoting nature of Apple product announcements.
The video is one in a series of attempts by Doritos at creating viral ads and maybe this is the success they’ve been hoping for. Whilst this isn’t the only fake tablet announcement on the web but it is certainly one of the funniest and probably the most well produced.
