Android tablets have been garnering a lot of buzz in recent months, fueled largely by the first devices such as the Motorola Xoom appearing that use Google’s new HoneyComb OS. With the promise of accelerated graphics and a performance boost for higher-end gaming applications, many industry pundits believe that more and more app developers may jump on the Android tablet bandwagon — especially in light of Apple’s continued refusal to support Flash and its heavy-handed approach to the apps it allows into the App Store.
Not only does HoneyComb provide more power under the hood for gaming apps but it also lets tablets like the Xoom increase the display size, with the Xoom’s 10 inch 1280×800 display noticeably larger than that of Apple’s iPad tablet. Gaming apps were a particular focus when developing HoneyComb, as it’s an area targeted by Google where they feel they can out-compete Apple and provide a compelling reason for game developers to focus their energies on the Android market.

Apple has approved very few gambling-related apps in its App Store that can be used for real money wagering (and those that have been approved are limited to non-US users), so most of the available apps are more recreational in nature.
