We’ve been keeping our eye on the WePad since video was first posted on the tablet a few weeks ago. Although we were skeptical at first, we are now seeing how the WePad could effectively be a worthy iPad competitor if its well marketed and if it gets the right deals with content publishers.

But out of the box, here are a few good reasons the WePad is better than the iPad:
1. It’s completely open
While Apple talks about using open standards, its operating system is as closed as it gets. Lest we forget the App Store approval process.
The WePad will run on Android, meaning software developers can dream up apps for anything they want and publish them freely.
2. It’s HD
The WePad will come standard with a 11,6″ 1366 x 768 screen and its 3G model will support full 1080p via HDMI. This makes Apple’s 9.7″ 1024 x768 screen look tiny and outdated.
3. It can see!
The iPad being blind as a bat, the WePad has a front-facing 1.3 Megapixel camera, great for Skype, taking a few quick pictures or Chatroulette, if you’re into that kinda thing.
4. If has Flash… and Java… and Adobe Air
Even if the iPad did have a camera, you couldn’t even use Chatroulette because its full Flash! The WePad, being built on Android supports Flash as well as Java and Adobe Air, three very important and widespread development platforms.
5. It’s faster
Sporting a 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N450 processor and 1 GB of RAM, the WePad will purr right passed the iPad’s 1.0 GHz Apple A4 and its lacking memory, only 256 MB. Come on!
